ACTIVITIES

We as a family would like to share this beautiful farm with our guests. This is really a place of tranquility and peace. Here you can just come and enjoy the beautiful scenery, the Old world feel of the houses, and swim in a natural pool. Go for a walk, do some cycling or go bird watching.Simply sit on the stoep, make a fire and gaze at the stars. Come camping. Just being in nature. Watch the horses run by, the cattle grazing and the lambs frolicing in the padock.

HORSEBACK RIDING

Kasteelkop is also home to Edami Arabs. We are very much into natural horsemanship. The horses are raised in large paddocks living in herds so that they can develop strong bones and muscles.

They  are handled just after birth and then halter trained at weaning.  We start riding them at 4 years of age and they do cattle work until they reach the age of  5. They are then made available to prospective buyers.

We offer riding only at prior arrangement, and only to experienced riders.

Guests are also welcome to bring their own horses along.

Birding

We are fortunate enough to have a few very rare birds.  Bald  Ibis can not only be seen here but they also breed at the waterfall. We  have a breeding pare of Secretary Birds and Grey Cori Bustards on the farm. This is a ideal place for birding as it is very private and we have a large number of grassland species.

Waterfall trail

This trail starts in front of the Guest House. The Waterfall is 1,6km from the Guest house. If you  have a Bakkie or SUV  you can drive there. Take your swimming costume along as you will be tempted to swim after your walk.

Kasteelkop trail

Also starts in front of the Guest House. Kasteelkop is 2,5km from the Guest house. You are welcome to climb to the top of Kasteelkop for a spectacular view.

Mountainbike trail

You can also hike the mountainbike route. Doing 10 or 25 km
